About „Stariņš” :: Meet the Teachers

Skolotāja Andārte
Teacher, Andārte Phillips, is currently majoring in Early Childhood Education at Northeastern University. She comes to our school with a wealth of experience working in preschool settings. Prior to working at our school, Andârte worked as a case-aide for the Children’s Home and Aid Society of Illinois.

Skolotāja Dana
Teacher Dana Saltâns previously worked and lived in Rîga, Latvia. Dana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the College of Teacher Training and Education Management (Rîgas Pedagogijas un Izglîtîbas Vadîbas Augstskola) in Rîga, Latvia. She has also completed coursework in Waldorf Pedagogy and has added her magic Waldorf dolls to our curriculum materials. Prior to moving to the United States, Dana worked as a teacher in a Latvian kindergarten in Rîga. The kindergarten group in which she worked had a specific focus on Latvian traditions and folklore.

Skolotāja Ginta
Ginta Kārkliņa is both director and teacher at CLCP. Ginta has a BS and MA degree in Education from the Latvian University of Agriculture. She has an early childhood teaching certificate, issued by the Latvian Ministry of Science and Education. Prior to working for Stariņš, Ginta lived and worked in Rīga, Latvia. She has 12 years experience in teaching preschool at the International School of Latvia and International School of Riga. Ginta is also a workshop leader and school visitor for the International Baccalaureate Organization.
